Universal FTP - Customized FTP connections - Textalk Abicart
Universal FTP is a powerful and flexible tool designed to connect your Abicart store to external systems by transferring data files. Its "universal" nature comes from the use of the Twig template engine, which makes it possible to define the exact format of the exported files. This means that you can create customized CSV, XML or other text-based file formats required by your partners or systems.
This integration supports sending files via FTP, SFTP and HTTPS POST, providing a secure and reliable way to automate your data exchange processes.
Universal-FTP is an additional service that can be purchased in Abicart PRO under "My subscription".
Do you use Google's different ad services?
- March. Store owners using retargeting and audience data will require the new settings offered by Google Consent Mode v2.
- July. Third-party cookies are completely blocked in Chrome
- By the end of the year , Google will require conversion tracking to be included in Google Consent Mode v2.
Who is affected by Google Consent Mode V2?
Those affected by Google Consent Mode version 2 include stores that use Google services such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads and other Google marketing services on their websites. It will mainly apply to those who use retargeting and audience data, according to Google, conversion tracking will also be included from the end of 2024 .
What do I need to do as a store owner in Abicart?
Enable support for Google Consent Mode V2 and update your policy to reflect how you collect and use data. This will help you meet legal requirements and protect your customers' privacy.
You enable the setting in your theme (Appearance -> Themes -> edit the active theme) under the extensions tab and Google before March 2024. Check both of these checkboxes:
ad_user_data is used to determine if the user gives their consent for Google's advertising purposes. This will be set to "granted" when the user actively consents to their data being shared with Google through a consent banner interaction.
ad_personalization controls whether the data can be used for ad personalization (e.g. for remarketing). It can only be set to "granted" when users specifically consent (via the consent banner) to their data being shared with Google for the purpose of ad personalization.
You can verify your implementation via e.g. Google Tag Assistant, read more here It is also good to check the settings in Google Analytics 4, read more here.
If you want to verify via an extension in Chrome, you can try Consent Mode Inspector, read more and download here
It is up to each store owner to activate these new parameters, provided you use Google's ad services and your store is affected. All stores will be set to the most restrictive settings automatically.
Also remember to enable the consent dialog box so that you require consent. With this turned on, the visitor is forced to either accept or deny consent.
Without it, your visitors can enter your site without making any choices.
How should you design your policy?
When reviewing your policy, you should ensure that your policy is comprehensive, transparent and in line with current data protection laws.
Feel free to enlist the help of an expert on the subject such as your Data Protection Officer, a lawyer or your network to ensure it is properly drafted. It is important to choose a source or expert who has deep knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to your business and geographical area.
Make sure that your policy is not only legally correct but also easy for users to understand, which is crucial for transparency and user trust.
What happens next?
Google will require conversion tracking to be included in Google Consent Mode V2. According to Google, this will not happen until the end of the year.
Abicart will continue to look at how the consent dialog is designed during the year and adapt it to comply with Google's requirements.
We also look further at functionality where we know that Advanced Consent Mode is something that is also requested.
