Create an Easter egg hunt/treasure hunt in Abicart - step by step - Textalk Abicart

This manual describes how to create an egg hunt or other scavenger hunt in Abicart. The guide goes through how to set up campaign pages, place clickable campaign icons in the store and link them to discounts, products or landing pages. The approach is built to be easily reused for future campaigns.

Preparations

Create campaign page

Go to:
Pages → My Pages → Create new page

Create a page describing your campaign, e.g. "Egg hunt - search and find unique discounts".
You can link to this page from the homepage.

The page can contain:

  • Short campaign text.

  • What to look for.

  • Terms and conditions

  • Validity period

Save & publish.

Create discount code (requires at least the PLUS plan)

Go to:
Discounts → Discounts → New discount

See manual how to create discounts here

Create:

  • Discount code of ex 10% (e.g. EGG15)

  • Free shipping discount code.

Save.

Create landing pages to link to from the eggs

Go to:
Pages → My Pages → Create new page

Create one or more pages describing the offer you can "find" in an Easter egg:

This page can contain:

  • Here is your discount code for this product (e.g. EGG15)

  • With this discount code you get free shipping.

  • With this discount code you get 100 kr discount if you shop for 500 kr.

Don't forget to mention the conditions and validity period of your offer on each page.

Save & Publish.

Alternative: Create campaign category

Go to:
Assortment → Product groups

Create e.g:

  • "Egg Hunt Deals"

  • "Treasure Hunt"

Add promotional products to the category. Now you can link to these product groups from your campaign pages.

Upload egg images (or promotional icons)

Go to:
Appearance → File archive

  1. Upload your images.

  2. Name them clearly so you can find them when you insert them into the pages:

    • egg-01.png

    • egg-gold.png

    • easter-hunt-01.png

Tip:

  • Don't make them too big, about 150-250 px wide

  • Keep the size down for fast loading

Place the egg images on selected pages

You can place them on:

  • Home page

  • Category pages

  • Product pages

  • Your own pages

Enter link to promotional page with offer.

Advanced: To position an egg image, you may need to use custom CSS.

Save & Publish

Track which eggs are found

To see how many times an egg has been clicked, add UTM parameters to the links.

Read more on the Google website about UTM parameters

Then in GA4 you can see:

  • Which eggs are found

  • Which ones convert best
